DR1 - Presidential candidate Danilo Medina is hoping to increase trade between the DR and the Caribbean as part of the national strategy to generate more jobs. During his visit to Puerto Rico last week, he stated that he would take up a proposal from Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos to connect Puerto Rico and the DR with a submarine electricity cable.
Speaking in San Juan on Thursday, 26 April, he also announced that he would encourage the signing of a free trade agreement with Haiti, the DR`s leading export partner. He called for strengthening trade with Puerto Rico. Read original at DR1.
