DR1 - The presidents of Claro and the Central Electoral Board (JCE), Roberto Rosario and Oscar Pena, met yesterday, Tuesday 24 April, to discuss specific details of the broadcasting of the results of the election on 20 May.
Following the meeting, Pena pledged that the network would be ready to identify and check and they were ready for any eventuality. He said that Claro had the largest network and was the most robust and trustworthy in the country and the Caribbean.
After his meeting with the Claro executives, Roberto Rosario declared that the explanations had given him both confidence and a sense of calm, as reported in El Dia.
Nevertheless, Diario Libre reports on 25 April that the president of the Central Electoral Board (JCE), insists that the issue of the simultaneous transmitting of election results return to the plenary of the JCE. Diario Libre says this implies there could be a change in the resolution that established that the JCE, political parties, the media and general public via the Internet would simultaneously learn the results of the election.
