DR1 - Michael Brown, a British fugitive who hid in Punta Cana from UK authorities/Interpol for three years, was deported to Spain yesterday, Sunday, 22 April. A 10-day procedure needs to be followed to extradite him from Spain to Britain. He is accused of fraud totaling over 60 million pounds in Europe. He also made headlines for his multi-million pound contributions to Liberal Democrats party in the UK in 2005. He was caught in the DR after his involvement in a local fraud case, which led the authorities to learn his true identity. He lived a millionaire lifestyle in the DR, under the name of Darren Nally.
He was arrested in January. To enable him to be deported, his local accusers had to drop their complaints of fraud.
